Is there something like vnc for solaris?

my desktop is a linux box, and I was wondering if there was a way to leverage X11/associated applications on a v440 remotely...

like "Sun Update Connection"...thanks,
manny

well, you could use vnc; it also works on solaris

you could also use any xdmcp clients to get the whole login session. xdmcp is enabled per default on solaris.

greetings PRESSY

Further to what Pressy said, running Xvn under inetd works very well for providing desktop sessions.

it looks like the viewer already comes on the Solaris 10 Companion Software CD :
vnc-3.3.7

which vnc server do you guys run?
do you start it as an rc3 job, or do you initiate it only when you need it?

thanks,
manny

I already answered the question of how to start it. I use tightvnc simply because it uses less bandwidth, but you can download the "standard" version from realvnc.com
