Installing OpenBSD for Xorg on Sunblade 2500

Hello All,

I am new to the forum so forgive me for any mistakes. I have a question. I have been doing alot of reading about how to get a supportable operating system on my sunblade 2500. I also want to use it for Xorg. I have been having trouble getting the sun XVR drivers working right(XVR-1200 is the sun video adapter), and i was wondering if anyone has had any luck getting this working, or should i use something else. I know that solaris supports it, but you cannot get patches without a support contract.

Thank you in advance, and if you need more info let me know.

It does say in the manual on page 4

It might be worth replacing video card with something you can support easily, since it's PCI

Until it died recently I had a Sun Blade 100, circa late 2001 era, 500mhz Sparc IIe with 2 GB of ram, (2) 15 GB HD's, and the stock peripherals, including monitor, which I still use on Intel equipment; It ran flawlessly with both FreeBSD for sparc64, and OpenBSD; I think OpenBSD is the best choice as X works right away from the install.

Pick the install57.iso, burn it to a CD and boot that on your system.
