B]I want the best of the best FreeBSD version for my study in Unix...please sugest me...[/b] Thanks
I understand your request, so I'll just say this:
The 4.X series has proven to be extreemly stable!
The 5.X series has lots of new developments and changes!
4.X will *eventually* cease with 5.X being continued
Now, you decide based upon your requirements AND your hardware support
Like many other freely available distributions, you have two choices:
The stable branch: 4.10
The development branch: 5.2.1
Since you are asking this question, I'd have to say you should install 4.10 and read the handbook (http://www.freebsd.org). If you have trouble installing 4.10 on your hardware, try 5.2.1.
Thanks to WIntellect, dkaplowitz, RTM...
All of the BSD are good... I use FreeBSD 4.10...
