hyperterminal serial solaris 8

Hi All,

I connected my serial connection to the installation of solaris 8 and sorry to tell you I use XP/hyperterminal, don't get mad on me... I might use ubuntu later.

When I'm installing it, it's ask me below:

What type of terminal are you using?
1) ANSI Standard CRT
2) DEC VT52
3) DEC VT100
4) Heathkit 19
5) Lear Siegler ADM31
6) PC Console
7) Sun Command Tool
8) Sun Workstation
9) Televideo 910
10) Televideo 925
11) Wyse Model 50
12) X Terminal Emulator (xterms)
13) Other
Type the number of your choice and press Return:

What should I select? What's the best, I find only 12 is the best but still not good enough.

By the way, I can't use the hyperterminal/xp keyboard so I still need to attached a keyboard directly but use the hyperterminal/xp screen. How do I make the keyboard working on hyperterminal?

Please help. Thanks in advance.

I would say you use option 3. You can use your keyboard/notebook key sequence with Hyperterm. A better emulator would to use TeraTerm.

The latest version of putty can handle the serial port and this is what I use on XP. But with putty or HyperTerminal I always tell the Solaris installer to use vt-100.

Yes, latest version of putty will support serial, ssh, telnet (all in one) good to have that
