Hp Unix software

Hi,
where can i get Hp unix dummy version to use in my home system.iam a newbie to unix.pls let me know if any avilable..Thank you Shruti

HP does not sell any OS for the usual systems that you have at home. Only the latest versions of HP UX support non HP platforms, and you still need an Itanium processor.

If you want to learn unix at home, use Linux or Solaris. All versions of Linux and the latest version of Solaris (Solaris 10) are free to download off the net.

You can get Solaris 10 here, Red Hat Fedora Linux here and SUSE Linux here.

Is there any dummy software that act like unix in windows without installing unix?coz i have already installed windows .it will disturb whole my configuration if i install unix on that.pls let me know if u know any dummy unix software to practice ..Thank you

You get something called Cygwin. But I really dont know anything about that.

Nobody reads the faqs. :frowning:

We have a faq article: Unix environments for MS Windows

You can also use a Live CD to check out Linux, I suggest Mepis or Knoppix

check docs.hp.com

hp also offers test boxes: http://www.testdrive.hp.com/

hope that helps
