How to replace failed disk?

Dear all

Please can any one explain me how to replace failed disk in Solaris 10.

Please tell me the step by step procedure.

describe how your system is setup.

in general, if you have a mirrored boot disk, you have to break the mirror first then shut down the system and replace the faulty hdd.

Wrong. If your disks are mirrored, you need not shutdown the system. Be it h/w raid, SVM mirror or VxVM raid. It should be done online to eliminate any unecessary downtime.

suneelieg, is your system mirrored? provide the configs

the system might need to be shutdown if it is an internal disk.

Usually for workstations, not servers

  • identify your system
  • what setup
  • take a screwdriver
    .
    .
    .
    .
what dp you expect? Nobody nows your system. read the manual of your unknown system.

At least post the df -h | head o/p so that people can make out if its using any mirroring or not .

Hi ,

Can u send "uname -a" output ?

Hello baykan... How is your question going to assist the OP to help him on the disk mirroring query?

I think its wise for us to wait for him to get back to us with the relevant details, if he needs assistance
