im trying to install Java in Debian lenny with apt-get install but can find the packages...anyone can help me on this one?

Which "java" are you trying to install? Runtime, sdk, ...?
You can use
aptitude search java
to get the names of java-related packages, or just aptitude and search for and install the java packages you need.
I've never used Debian, but installed it just to answer this thread! So your answer is probably better 
But installing OS's in VM Fusion is fun, so I didn't mind
