How to ftp or sftp from workplace to UNIX server?

Hi All,

Seeking for your assistance on how to ftp or sftp from workplace to unix server?

i tried

 ftp user/pass

but it says "command not found" i tried

 sftp user@localhost

i can't connect.

Please advise,

The first command means that an ftp client is not installed on your workplace system. Or is not within your PATH.
The sftp could fail for various reasons.

  1. Port 22 is not open in some firewall.
  2. user is not allowed sftp access to localhost.
  3. the sftp server is not running on localhost.
  4. sftp is running on a different port.
