how to connect to alom

Hello Guys,

I am working with sunfire V480 and wants to know how to connect to alom. Can you please guide?

where is your problem? is it a lom (no modem) or an rsc (with modem connector) card in your server?

you need another machine to tip into alom or use a termserver. you can also use a laptop with a hyperterm session.

I have alom card on it. Can I connect using rj45?

The 480 does not have ALOM, it has an RSC card.

You can directly connect your serial to the RSC or you can configure the RSC on the OS and then connect to it via a term server

there are two cards for the 480... one with modem connector and one without. it looks like this in system handbook:

501-5856   Remote System Control (RSC2) Board
501-6767   Advanced Lights Out Manager Plus Card

so there IS a alom card available for the 480 which runs the rsc software but is called alom ;).

connect your laptop using a serial cable, the use windows hyper terminal it should work
