How to configure in redhat linux on vmware?

Hi All,

I installed Red-hat linux(64bit-x86) os on vmware 8,configure IP address and services but it is unable to come in to network.it is production server.

please provide solution to me , it is very urgent...

Unfortunately, you really have not provided us with enough information to help you:

  • Are there other VMs on this box?
  • Are the other VMs able to connect to the network?
  • Are you assigning a static or dynamic IP address to this VM?
  • Are you able to ping 127.0.0.1 on this VM?
  • Are you able to ping the assigned hostname on this VM?

The more information you provide, the more we can help you?

Is this VMWare ESX or is there another 'host' operating system?

VMware 8? You mean VMware Workstation 8? How does that make the VM a production server?

I think this is fourth time I am writing this. If you searched, you would find my posts on similar issue. While configuring network type for the VM on Workstation, select Host-Only, if you want to access the VM from the host itself. It's NAT by default, which does not allow you to communicate from the host. There's another connection type, Bridged: it makes the VM available for the outside world.

For more info, press F1 while on VMware Workstation and browse to Creating Virtual Machines in Workstation -> Preparing to Create a New Virtual Machine -> Selecting the Network Connection Type for a Virtual Machine
