Hard disks in solaris

I need to insert a new hard disk into a Sun Fire v210 machine. The (only) internal disk which is already in the machine is part number XRA-SC1CB-73G10K (DISK DRIVE ASSY. 73GB, 10K RPM, with SPUD BRACKET).

I also have nearly endless access to IBM hard disks at extremely low prices and would there fore preferably use an IBM disk. Has anyone here done anything like this? Would you assume that there would be anticipate any problems concerning this?

There's nothing special about disks in a Sun. I've seen most made by segate, but have seen some by Maxtor, Fujitsu and others. As long as you get the correct drive to meet the specs (correct interface, speed, etc.) there isn't any reason I know of an IBM disk won't work.

Correct they are standard ultra 320 scsi disk, although I have to say that it has been my experience that IBM disks suffer from a much lower MTBF that the segate disks or other disks but that may just have been a bad batch.
