Pearl or Perl? If you mean Perl I suggest you get the Perl Bookshelf References (on CD). It is several books (on CD) including 'Learning Perl', and 'The Perl CookBook'. You can get used copies very cheaply on Amazon.com.

once you get past the 'Learning Perl' level, Programming Perl would be a good companion for you
