In ILOM I have 5 disks but in server format command just lists two disks.
Do you know the history of the 3 missing disks?
Did they work on this system before? Or have they been added recently?
If you run 'format' in expert mode and select the 'scsi' options do they appear then?
# format -e
If so, perhaps they do not have Sun labels and/or some 'reserve' flag is set in the mode pages. Take the opprtunity to 'set all mode pages to default' to remove any set flags.
Thank you for your response, Yes those disks have worked fine and now if I use format -e still those disks are not listed.
Perhaps the disks are on another hardware partition or another ldom?
What hardware type is your box?
Are the disks on a different SCSI bus to the working two?
Check the SCSI and power cables.
What model SPARC are you working on?
ILOM tends to imply something that's a T2000 or newer to me.
As such, I wonder if there is a hardware RAID controller -- Oracle used them on some systems -- that is abstracting the three disks into a logical disk presented to the OS.
I would expect cfgadm to show all the hardware that the kernel knows about. prtdiag and prtconf are also candidates to help identify hardware.
What does fmadm show? As the Fault Management ADMinistration tool, it should be able to learn just about everything that the ILOM knows about.
What does show /SYS and show /SYSTEM (they are different commands) run in the ILOM show?
What color are the lights on the system? ILOMs are usually very good at telling you when there is a hardware problem.
I've found that the ILOM's web interface is easier / nicer to navigate for unknown things / settings on a system.
What impact are you seeing inside of Solaris? Are any file systems offline / unmounted / missing?
N.B. I'm taking "ILOM" to be accurate, the "ALOM" which preceded the ILOM doesn't have the web interface.
