Forgot the privileged access password in ibm pseries615c3

Hi friends,

I am having ibm pseries615c3 server. previously i set privileged access password for the firmware. Now i forgot that password. Help me to reset or remove the firmware password from the server. Otherwise anyone plz help me how to change the default boot device in pseries servers. I want to install RHEL in the server immediately.. so plz anyone help me.

Thanks in advance.

You have to remove the battery for at least 30 seconds to disable the password. Found at IBM AIX and pSeries info center under Service Guide

Hi RTM,
thanks.
i have reset the password as per ur idea.
I am new to use the ibm machines. i have set the first boot device as cdrom and second boot device as scsi hard disk. i want to install redhat enterprise linux using cdrom in the same ibm pseries 615c3 machine. machine is not booting from the cdrom. It directly boot using hard disk. the linux cd is botable. But i can't boot from the cdrom. can u give me some idea to install
Enterprise linux in this hardware. i read the manuals from ibm and redhat to install RHEL on pseries, but it wont work in my case.

Help me.

Kindly check the cdrom properly ,sometimes it happens that it'snot boot from the media.Check ur cd drive also.

Cheers

I have the same problem. I fogot my password for firmware on my server pSeries 7025-6F1. Whether there is what that decision for removal of the password, except for what to not take out a battery. Maybe some root commands???

Chaplin, could you try again? I cannot understand your post.

I have the same problem. I set privileged access password for the firmware on my server (TYPE 7025-6F1) and forgot it. Please help me. I dont want & I cannot disassemble a server for that what to remove a battery. Whether there is other decision of the given problem???

Sorry for my bad english

If it's in firmware, I don't think there's much to be done but remove the battery. If it had a "make security go away" button, what kind of security would it be?
