Hello Everyone!

I have a Sun Fire E2900. When I run a prtdiag -v, it fails to give complete information. It fails with the following error message "Prtdiag failed!Property not found".

Please help.

Prtdiag failed!
Property not found

I don't have a proper solution to your problem, but i have faced issues where prtdiag gets stuck while running on T5220 box, sun recomended OBP upgrade & the issue got fixed, if possible try OBP upgrade, though this is not an exact way of resolving issues. This could save time in case of emergency.

I hope some one else will also post some other solution, so that we both can learn.

Thanks.

Make sure also that your system is up to date with patches.

Whats the OS version, current OBP and kernel patch level?

uname -a
prtconf -V

Do also try to restart the picld daemon and re-check

do you see the same issues when you use

/usr/platform/`uname -i`/sbin/prtdiag

Thank you all for replying!

# uname -a
SunOS ams5526A 5.10 Generic_138888-03 sun4u sparc SUNW,Netra-T12

# prtconf -pv | grep -i obp
        version: 'OBP 5.18.0 09/20/04 21:22'
            name: 'obp-tftp'

I will restart picld and let you know.

Yes I used both

/usr/platform/`uname -i`/sbin/prtdiag -v

&

/usr/sbin/prtdiag

I restarted picld. prtdiag still fails :frowning:

restarting picld did not help. Prtdiag still fails. i see the following errors in /var/adm/messages:

Apr 15 09:22:49 picld[3385]: piclfrutree: cannot find sc node
Apr 15 09:22:53 picld[3385]: piclfrutree_init: add_all_nodes failed: 9
Apr 15 09:22:53 picld[3385]: ptree_delete_prop failed: 15

You mentioned E2900 at the begining and now Netra-T12

Are both same machines, I don't have much knowledge about this. PLease someone correct me .

Thanks.

Thank you for pointing this out. Good catch.

Both are the same machine. It's a Sun Fire E2900 which shows up as "SUNW,Netra-T12". It's not just this server. I checked another E2900 and it too shows up as "SUNW,Netra-T12".

It is weird they don't show up as "SUNW,Sun-Fire".

Any suggestions or advice? Please help.

Start with updating the firmware. The version you have is not just old but ancient. You should also update patches as previously mentioned.

Thank you for replying. I removed and re-installed the following packages:

SUNWfruid SUNWfruip SUNWpiclh SUNWpiclr SUNWpiclu

"prtdiag -v" now works!:b:

# prtdiag -v
System Configuration: Sun Microsystems sun4u Sun Fire E2900
System clock frequency: 150 MHZ
Memory size: 32GB
.
.
.

But "uname -a" output shows "SUNW,Netra-T12" as platform.

Probably nothing to worry with.
An E2900 is an entry level midrange server like the V1280 and Netra 1280. Their firmware documentation mention them all using "SUNW,Netra-T12" as their platform identification while the E6900/E4900/6800/4810/4800/3800 use "SUNW,Sun-Fire":
