how to know which eis-dvd version is installed on the system ?
and is there a way to get EIS-DVD for March past year (2009) ?
check "/var/sun" for information of the installed eis version. and no, if you don't have a march 2009 eis dvd version, you can only get it with a support contract or good contact to sun service.

the /var/sun only shows the first EIS update version , not the latest , can you confirm please
every eis run goes to the logfile inside /var/sun. if you patch with a non eis-dvd cluster (downloaded on sunsolve) it will not show up in the log.
