DT messaging could not be started

this id the message i get with a suggestions to check those files:
/etc/src.sh
/etc/hosts
/usr/adm/inetd.sec

i have little knowledge of hoe to edit those files/

i went to the etc library and didn't found src.sh file.
what should i do?

also didn't find the inetd.sec file

In the host file i've inserted the new machine name.

tnx

I'm not sure how to fix it .. I'm guessing that's a Sun message since you didn't post your O.S. From what I could find, that's an old message Sun hasn't updated .. Sun doesn't use those files anymore (src.sh and inetd.sec), which is why you dont see them.

In the mean time, post the results of uname -a. (You may need to login to root to do this.) This will help whoever can help you.

The same problem reported on Tek-Tips with some possible solutions.

I am having the same problem trying to get a SunBlade 100 up and running at the college i attend.

the uname -a output I show is:

SunOS unknown 5.10 Generic_118833-33 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Blade-100

in the /etc/nsswitch.conf file I show the following:

hosts: nisplus dns [NOTFOUND=return] files

and ...

ipnodes: nisplus dns [NOTFOUND=return] files

Please forgive this Solaris newb for missing anything that might be obvious. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
