disable messages

hi..

I want to disable the messages that comes when USB device is inserted.
I tried to do 2> /dev/null...

again messages are coming to the screen..

Please help..

check out the /etc/syslogd.conf file, maybe there is an entry like "kern.* /dev/console", change to /var/log/messages.
At the time I used RH9, I'd the same problem with the IPTABLES log directive, showing it to the console without the possibility of redirecting it to another file, really I don't know why...
