different between soft reboot and hard reboot

Can any want here could explain to me the different between soft reboot and hard reboot .

A soft reboot is typing the reboot command (or the appropiate shutdown command). A hard reboot is powering down the machine and then powering it up again.

Hi Guru .

I am new script writing , i would to find out how do i autommatic tar and untar a directory and moce to directory . Must a write a script or must use crontab . I m not that sure . Can anywant help me ? pls

Hi Pal,
i feel that a cron entry will not work coz cron entry repeatatively does a task. But, tar and untar need not be run so go on tryin to write a script.

if you wanna repeatatively tar and untar at regular inetrvals then go for firing a cron job.
