Cut Over to New Data Center and Upgraded OS Done. :)

I am sorry if I ever gave you the impression that I was somewhat inferring that you or UNIX.COM should be in the Cloud. My post was prompted as a personal opinion following in the same spirit of bakunin's post #9. It was not even a response to his comments but rather a conversational comment based on my experience.

You validate my commentaries. If you do not CI/CD you do not need the Cloud, otherwise your experience might not be what you expected. And this is common with a lot of customers.

Originally, I asked you about the Cloud and unix.com based on the hero effort you have to do to move to another datacenter. You responded why not and that was it for me concerning the matter and I gave you thanks for responding me, I did not engage you any more about that response.

It's all good .....

Typing in messages about concepts tends to lead to different ideas and trains of thought.

I thought you were asking me if I considered moving to the cloud and why not, and then you responded to my "NO WAY" with some catchy, trendy phrase, which I responded to.

These kinds of discussions are good for everyone, because the best ideas always come from different points of view and back and forth discussions, as we all learn from each other.

Never hold back from posting your ideas, even when others may disagree, because these professional discussions are great for learning.

Of course, it's tricky sometimes when we are writing messages versus hanging out having seafood and cold beer; but that's also what makes it interesting too.

OK.

In this mostly thankless job of moving data from one data center to the next, upgrading the OS, Apache, MySQL, and PHP and working out the bugs that brings, I have just decommissioned the old server and one older backup server. Have completely wiped the disk on the old backup; and plan to do the same on the ex-main server as soon as I can get back in via the data center "wipe and restore" management interface, which they seem to have disabled.

I'm not a happy camper with servercraft.co and do not recommend them, unless you want to have problem after problem with their data center and management tools.
