Is it possible to convert an excel file into a text file using standard HP UNIX commands? Possibly in K Shell?
Not sure if it helps, may be you can try saving the file as csv or tab delimited text file
There may be better ways that others may post

I dont know if it runs on hpux or anything about its dependencies, but maybe its worth a try? I dont think you will get any results with standard commands here.
