cksum question

Hi there,
I have a query about cksum. I'm running a script on the Unix box and in a script the cksum result differs from when I run it manually. As far as I can see the file is not being changed, is there any other times that the cksum would be different.

Are you certain that the file does not occur elsewhere with the same name?

It's not even remotely likely that identical files run under the exact same cksum program would have separate checksums. However, change one character and the checksum will be radically different.

Hi Jim,
I have just found a sed command that removes all the ^M's in the file tucked away in a function. So that solves the mystery thanks for you help mate.

You want the dos2ux command (sometime called dos2unix)

Hi Jim,
The chap before me used sed - I did look for dosunix, and didn't find it. But mystery solved - thanks for your help.
