Changing HostID---Urgent

Hi all,

How can I change hostID on SUN Server with sun4u architecture?

Thanks

For older systems the Host ID is stored on a little plastic module attached to the system board. If you need to use the ID of a different system (of the same type) grab that part and move it to the new one.

do you need to chance your hostid permanent or just for an software installation? it's not really supported to chance your host-id, but like seg mentioned, it is stored on a chip. based on which type of box you're using, it was possible to order such a chip with a host-id you want, just ask your sun representative if it's possible for you hardware...

i found a script from Brendan Gregg that could change your host-id using dtrace in solaris 10.... but it's very cpu intensive... so perhaps just for a check or an installation...
