cdrom problem

Is it enough just to say "boot cdrom"? Do you not also have to update the boot-device parameter in the prom?

From the Solaris 10 reference:

The boot PROM determines the boot device by reading the PROM parameter boot-device.

The boot PROM reads the disk label located at Sector 0 on the default boot device.

The boot PROM finds the boot program from the default boot device

programmed into the PROM.

Its a cd/dvd rom issue in your case.
I hit another problem today with my system, as follows:-

{0} ok boot /pci@7c0/pci@0/pci@1/pci@0/ide@8/cdrom@0,0:f -sw
Boot device: /pci@7c0/pci@0/pci@1/pci@0/ide@8/cdrom@0,0:f File and args: -sw
Can't read disk label.
Can't open disk label package
ERROR: /pci@780/pci@0/pci@9/scsi@0: boot-read fail

Can't open boot device

In this case it seemed to be a fault dvd drive. No matter what cd/dvd I used to boot from and reseat the ide cable, Im not even able to probe the dvd drive.
boot cdrom will initiate to boot the OS installation program, fyi

the problem for the above which I posted was resolved. Netra T2000 has some known bugs for dvd not getting recognized. Upgraded the firmware to 6.7.0 and it worked.

thanks for incredible
