No,
you can run only Solaris for x86 on your PC.

It depends on what you need to do with it. If you want to work with multiple virtual hosts/clusters etc, I would recommend VMware.

If it's only for a single guest, VirtualBox should be sufficient and less resource intensive.

I have only limited experience with Qemu.

Is solaris 10 call oracle solaris 10? I'm not interest in opensolaris.
Do you think Oracle Solaris 10 10/09 Appliance Image for Oracle VM VirtualBox Download is enough for my virtualbox? Or I need to download the iso itself and install from it.

If you want to study/test Oracle on Solaris, the appliance image should be sufficient.
If you want to study/test Solaris, try to install it from scratch.

Actually, I'm not sure if:

is because Oracle owns Sun and VirtualBox now, or because of some pre-configured Oracle product on that appliance.

As far as I know, not long ago, it was free ...
There is a download option:

This is not Open Solaris.

I'm quite sure there is a free evaluation license.

I�ve got a legacy application in a ultrasparcIIi server, that is not working well (hardware problems). It runs Debian Etch 4, in a sparc based platform.
Is there any way to virtualize this machine using vmware esx?
Can I make an image of the running system using "dd" to an ISO image and then restore the ISO in a VM?
Do anyone knows if vmware have sparc processor/platform support to virtual machines?

tenho um servidor legado sun ultrasparc IIi, que est� com um SO linux (debian), baseado em plataforma sparc, rodando uma aplica��o opensource. ele est� dando problemas de hardware e preciso migrar a aplica��o urgentemente, mas comouma aplica��o legada, n�o tem documenta��o.
a maneira mais f�cil e r�pida seria criar uma imagem ISO do HDA dele com o "dd", restaurando a imagem em uma m�quina virtual num hardware novo.
porem essa VM teria que emular uma plataforma sparc.
tenho o vmware esxi em servidores mais novos.
a pergunta �: � poss�vel criar uma VM para plataforma sparc, virtualizando o servidor de produ��o?
agrade�o imensamente qualquer ajuda ou indica��o.
