Heehee I just had to hack a root password on a Solaris 9 system  I was borrowing the machine off a mate for I can practice for my certification stuff. He couldn't remember the password for his own machine :frowning:

Same here.... I changed an XP Pro admin password and, for some odd reason, when I logged out, it would not accept the new password to get back in!

I used the link above and created a linux boot floppy with a utility that allowed me to blank the password in the XP SAM file. ...... showing that (on XP like UNIX/Linux) with physical access, password files are easy to edit, when necessary.

I am glad. It would have been a nightmare if I could not have found a way back in!

Greetings,

In XP it is possible to reset lost or forgotten password using Active@ Password Changer utility. it is a really useful tool that never failed me before and worked simply great. It is really awesome, you should defiantely try it.

the gratest soft for changing admin (or another user) on winxp/win2k/win2k3 is NT Offlile Password Recovery And Registery Editor (http://home.eunet.no/pnordahl/ntpasswd/\)
