Autorepeat in terminal

Hi i have hp-ux 11.23i and in terminal there is no characters autorepeat when i keep keyboard key pressed longer. Where can i change that? Can it be changed at all?

how do you connect, via putty? What desktop hardware are you using to connect to HPUX?

I`m talking about direct terminal access (or i should say system console output) with keyboard attached to my hp zx6000. I want to use it as a workstation, not remotely and missing character autorepeat is very annoying.

What model z6000 ? Was it one which was sold as a workstation?

Do you mean a HP monitor connected to the VGA port complete with HP USB-connected Keyboard and Mouse? Or do you mean a serial HP monitor connected to the Console port? If any of the components are non-HP, please describle them.

Ps. This question has come up before on unix.com and there was no answer. Describing more about the hardware may help get an answer.

This is hp zx6000 as i previously wrote. I mean Dell monitor and generic USB keyboard connected directly to the workstation using graphic card not a console.

What i want to know is that does HP-UX behaves like - have no autorepeat when using text mode after login - that by default and there is no way to change that?

I'm not sure i understand correctly but try ESC then k or j for next/previous commands.

Not heard of this issue before.

Do you still get the problem after starting CDE ?

Have you tried the correct HP keyboard?

See also man 7 hilkbd .

Ps. There were several models of zx6000, not all of which were sold as workstations .

Also see xset r and/or the CDE preferences screen.

Peasant: you don`t understand my problem. Problem is that on hpux on my zx6000 workstation i don` have autorepeat when any of keyboard keys is presed longer.

In CDE is just the same. But it is ok when i login remote by putty. I think that will be some terminal option/variable/setting that is wrong.

I have zx6000 in typical workstation i`s in that future-look tower box, with low noise fans to office use. It was used as some CAD/CAM/CAE box before in one of airplane company. It has best graphic card aviable in this model - ATI Fire GL X1-256p.

I try to check what you send to me. I`ll write about what i`ve done.

From what i found online ..

Can you ran while in CDE xset -r and see if it makes any difference.

Also, check out
hilkbd - HP-UX

Hope that helps.

Regards
Peasant.

xset -r doesn`t help

When i use any terminal normal or in safe mode i don`t have autorepeat. Autorepeat works well when i`m in EFI but in OS it disappear.

Problem is that i don`t have any HP keyboard that i could use. I try to find some other usb keyboard that will work with HPUX.

About hilkbd there is :

-----------
KBD_REPEAT_RATE
Set the keyboard auto-repeat rate. The one-byte value to which arg points is the negative of the repeat period, in tens of milliseconds. The repeat rate is the reciprocal of the repeat period. A parameter of zero disables auto-repeat.

KBD_REPEAT_DELAY
Set the keyboard auto-repeat delay. The one-byte value to which arg points is the negative of the repeat delay, in tens of milliseconds.

----------

but i don`t know yet how to check current status of those. I`ll be digging into it.

Solved. Problem is my keyboard. I swap it to HP KU-0316 model and key`s autorepeat works fine.

I spoke to fast that it works fine - autorepeat works fine. One thing that is not working using HP keyboard is "|" pipe key. I look for another good keyboard for ZX6000 Workstation. When i find one i`ll reply.
