Is anyone here using NPIV with AIX? If you are, what type of switch are you connected to? Also, please share some impressions of NPIV over traditional port-to-port LUN assignments. We are looking to move to NPIV and need some convincing argume... I mean information.

In general the latest switch (since from 2010 maybe eralier) support using NPIV technology.

we do - using cisco MDS 9000s (several different as far as I recall) ...
Fine with not too busy systems like application boxes and not too busy DB boxes - even with hacmp we have so far no issues, for high througput DBs I still prefer dedicated adapters.
If you are using EMC storage with powerpath than this APAR might be relevant to you.
