Any way to avoid these errors?

Hello,

this is solaris 10 on SF v440,

I know below errors might go away if I put a new PS or put the original one back in socket but is there any other way to stop these errors from appearing in /var/adm/messages ? I do not want to put the failed PS1 in socket neither do we want to spend on additional PS .

Jan 11 09:23:34 hostname rmclomv: [ID 335588 kern.error] Required PSU @ PS1 is not present.
Jan 11 09:38:36 hostname rmclomv: [ID 335588 kern.error] Required PSU @ PS1 is not present.

Any idea?

Thank you! :b:

Happy new year to community !

You may try this:
In the /etc/syslog.conf comment out the following line and add/amend it

#*.err;daemon,auth.notice;mail.crit /var/adm/messages
daemon,auth.notice;mail.crit /var/adm/messages

svcadm restart svc:/system/system-log:default

upengan78, just realize that you will not receive any level 3 error messages generated by any facility according to syslog if you remove *.err.

i would recommend fixing the issue and getting another power supply as the redundancy is worth the money.

Thank you ! This helped me getting read of those messages in /var/adm/messages :b:

Yes, this is a valid point. I have another line in syslog.conf for *.err which will go to /var/log/errors

at least, for now I won't see those in messages file.

Thank you!!

what about your solaris release?

I had a similar problem on solaris 9

The issue is powering down all servers, and powering them back up again.

Have you upgrade your firmware in sc card?

Best regards

I really can't get what you're trying to share or ask
