Amount of LUNs used for zpool

Hi folks,
is there any rule or best practise for amount of LUNs user for zpool construction (from view of performance etc.)??

It depends what applications are planning to run on the ZFS. And it will be better if the pool can be formed in mirror / raidz state instead of just 1 LUN or stripe set of pool.

This zpool is intended as a staging area for MySQL backup server (in this case Zmanda).
When MySQL backup is finished is from this stage area taken backup by NetBackup to tapes.

In this case, it will be a simple solution to just make 1 LUN to hold the backup data. Ideally, the raid group of this LUN can have same number of disk and RAID format as production site.

Backup by netbackup, hmm...
It will be faster to split the backup set to use multiple tape drivers in tape lib.
