aix shutdown automatically

hi,
My AIX (5.3) machine is getting shutdown automatically.
After restarting the machine, its screen goes black and it shows in green:

Unmounting the file system....
bringing down the network interface en0 ln0.......halt
completed

and system shutdowns.
Can anybody tell me what I need to do.I am very new and i dont know anything...
Kindly help me.

Thanks.

Since when does this occure? What has been done with this machine?

Boot it in maintenance mode and check the errpt (Error Report) for entries relating to your problem. Also check /etc/inittab or any suspicious entries in /etc/rc.d/init.d or crontab.

If it is a HA/CMP cluster you might want to check the /tmp/hacmp.out for example if any error occurse as event that stops the machine as a result to prevent further problems.

Sir,

can you please tell me how to boot in maintenance mode.....
as restart the system it hardly there and its shutdown automatically

System was fine in morning and even i didn't actually worked on the system but before i restarted machine it showed warning message,
but now its hardly starts.

thanks,

Depends on box. If it is an old box, there could be some kind of key to position at a wrench icon and power it on.
Else could go to SMS and boot from a service CD.
Another option, maybe most comfortable is having a HMC at the system and just start a service profile.
Depends really on what type of hardware setup you have there.

Do you have any error LEDs or code when booting up that show up at least before it reboots? Might be worth a check too.

I have restarted the AIX machine and its started and prompts:

shutdown: Please log off now !!
All Process will be killed in 1 min

I unable to enter SMS also.
Its very old machine

It can't be that old because otherwise AIX 5.3 wouldn't run on it.

On the other hand you still haven't told us *which* machine it is - how are we supposed to help you when we don't even know the machine type?

Corollary: If you'd want to buy replacement parts for your car, would you ask for "break pads for a '97 Mercedes Benz 240 SL" or rather "break pads for an old car - it's a green one"?

Hello All,

My machine Type is 7028 6E1
(Please let me know any more information about machine is required.)

I have run the command errpt -a on my machine.
As I have mentioned machine works for a 1minute and then Shutdown begins.

I have tried to capture the output of the command.

Below is the snapshot of output of the command errpt -a:

To get to recovery mode on your box, you need terminal connected to machine via serial cable. When system boot, you can change boot mode (one of the option is SMS mode, and then you can boot AIX into Maintanance mode to clean / fs)
