AIX on an alternative system

My greeting to all the readers

I have an AIX 5.3 version. I want to study this operation system. Unfortunately I don't have an IBM p Series system. Is there a way to install AIX on vmware or something similar? May be I have an old IBM Netfinity Server, will AIX run on this system? Thanks for your help. Sorry for my bad language.

If you have an older IBM system like an F50 you do not need to use an emulator. An F50 can load the OS 5.3. (You might look on IBM.com to see if the net server will handle5.3) If this is not an option it looks like Google has a few options that pop on the search "AIX emulator" however I can not vouch for any of them. I hope this helps this is my first post. -KJ

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunatelly I didn't find an emulator for ibm aix. There are a lot of threads with the same question but nobody known the answer.

If anybody have an idea which emulator should be used, please post it.
Thank you.

I have two different NF5500 systems. Type 8660-65X Intel Pentium 3 processors and type 8660-58X Intel Pentium 2 processors. Will AIX 5.3 run on one of these servers? Unfortunately I didn't find any information on the ibm.com website. Thanks for your help.

Not a chance! Unlike Sun IBM have not seen fit to release the O/S onto an Intel platform. I also think this is highly unlikely. Early on there was a release on a Thinkpad laptop but I am not sure whether this was Intel based or an early power chip based system.

You need to look on EBay as sometimes you will find RS6000 machines for sale. However they are seldom cheap and if they are it means they are old and will not run AIX 5.3 anyway.

OK, Thank you.
