Adding New HP Printer Drivers

I am using AIX ver 5.2 and would like to add an hp3050 printer, which is not one of the printers listed on our system in the add a new print queue section of smit.

I thought that I had found the correct driver on the hp website, but now it appears as that may only be for hp or solaris systems.

When I tried to install the drivers with the command:
# bsh net_lj3052.55.sh

The response is:
x - 2930.cfg [compressed]
x - installer [compressed]
x - net_clj3052-55 [compressed]
x - net_clj3052-55.1 [compressed]

     These model script files cannot be installed completely without the software package of HP JetDirect Printer Installer for UNIX being installed first.

On the hp website, I can't seem to find any useful information, nor the HPPI (HP Jetdirect Printer Installer) that I saw referred to in a lot of places.

This is probably not the right way to do it, but it has always worked for me, no matter what printer we are using:

Install all printer drivers from the AIX CD's using

smitty devinst

Instead of adding a printer, add a print queue using

smitty mkpq

and choose hpJetDirect as the printer type.
