Access Linux server from windows

I can access the linux server in my company from my desktop windows explorer. I guess samba is working.

Please see the images.

I have a few questions.

  • I don't have the linux account and I have never accessed it from shell. Is my windows login account same as the linux account if I want to have one?
  • From the image, you see that there are three group or user names. Do they match the owner, group and others in linux users each other?
  • I made a test copy a file to a folder in window explorer but I heard that actually I don't have the permission in linux. So can we say it is an alternative way to access the folder even against the user permission in linux?

Thanks.

Those are questions you need to ask the administrator of the Linux system. They may or may not be the same but only that person can answer with certainty.
