We have a 3ware RAID server at work, and as the appointed systems administrator (by virtue of being the one with the most knowledge) I've taken on the job of maintaining it. I've installed smartmontools on it to keep an eye on the drives and run scans every day, and looking at the data from the primary OS drive has me concerned. The raw_read_error_rate is currently at 65537, whereas the rest of the drives have a value of 0.
The OS has 2 400GB drives in RAID-1, and the rest of the drives are RAID-5.
A couple of questions I have are:
- Should the drive be replaced, even though the last 21 test have returned no error?
- Can the server be booted from the mirror drive in order to rebuild the primary drive?
