using the recover command

Hi Guys, just need a little bit of guidance here...

i need to recover data from a backup tape using the recover command. can someone please give some pointers as to where to start?

I don't think that there is a unix or Linux command called "recover".

1) Find out what Operating System you have.
2) Find out how the system was backed up and get the documentation for that package.
3) Find out how the disc system is partitioned.
4) Rehearse a data restore on a test system until you are confident with using the software.

the only i know is on HP-UX, but it's called fbackup and frecover.
So let us know more details, please.
