I hesitated for a while before I followed Jared's question, I was looking for a mentor to improve my programming skills, sometime I thought even to pay for it. I am a geneticist and switched to bioinformatics recently, when I felt too much (even basic programming skills) to learn before I become professional, at least looks like one. A long way to go but I can't go back to school starting from course cmpt101! Too long time and too academic. Perhaps patience is what I need. Thank you both!
I don't think you should be patient!! Start posting your queries.. The forum will try to find answers or the best way to help you!
Meanwhile, you should try something not expecting a whole script/program from us
