Text files

Hello everyone I have a question on editing text files.

Basically I have a very large text file which is basically just numbers in columns, however some of the columns are too small so my numbers have merged together.
How do I use a shell comand to insert a space after the sixth column of figures on every line in the document. I have about 110000 lines of data.

You can use sed, awk, or Perl but it's impossible to tell you exactly what to do without some example data since you are indicating columns.
