Sun Solaris need help

I am a newbie here, now i have a trouble with my Sun. When start-up it warns:

"Power up Self Test Failed. Cause: NVRAM U13"

Could any body help me to solve this, thanks you very much!

Sounds like on of your NVRAM banks is corrupted... You can try and removing some of it to find the faulted bank. If you have found it you can install a new one...

I am not really sure but this is my best guess from a distance.

Johan Louwers.

Timeout waiting ARP/RARP packet "

I am so confused, Somebody explain the meaning of this message pls!!!

nvram is a chip in your computer. It means non-volatile random access memory. You need a new chip. This chip has a little battery in it that cannot be replaced. When the battery dies so does the chip. (How old is this Sun?) This is a common problem and it has been discussed before. Search the Sun forum for nvram.

Hi Perderabo

Thanks for your advice. I think my computer now trying to boot from a network device, following this: Boot device: /pci@1f,0/pci@1,1/network@1,1 File @ avgs:...

[b]So, could you tell me how to solve this problem? I am using 2 SCSI disk connected to PCI port. The hard disk only used for OS kernel. My system is Sun Sparc Ultra 10

Thank you!

Check your boot-device parameter by entering eeprom boot-device at the solaris prompt. To change enter eeprom boot-device=disk

Thanks to all

The trouble had solved. The failed NVRAM had been replaced by new one and the system is OK now. So i wonder about the life time of the battery intergrated in NVRAM?
