(really basic) List directories only?

I'm looking for a Linux equivalent to the DOS

dir /ad

that lists the directories ("folders" in Windows) in the current directory.

I looked at the ls manpage, which says

-d, --directory list directory entries instead of contents,
and do not dereference symbolic links

but

ls -d

gives only

.

the current directory itself, instead of the dozen or so directories that actually reside in the current directory. (This directory has many files with long filenames, so I'd prefer not to go through the 10-page listing -- but mostly I want to learn how things like this are done.)

ls -l | grep '^d'

Heh, I guess that works. I'm surprised there's nothing built-in for this.

you can also use find with -type d

yup as ghostdog suggested you better use

find . -type d -ls -long
