playing audio

Hi all,

I play audio through the web browser and it plays ok on windows. When i try the same thing on unix i get the error message "sh: /usr/local/bin/sox: not found. I've tried 'locate sox' and can't seem to find it. Is there some way I can change the browser settings so they play the audio using a different program? The audio is in wav format by the way.

Probably you just need to find the plugin for your web browser.

Well, what web browser? What version of the browser?

Sox is a common audio driver for Linux system, but not necessary (I think). Also, you may just need to set up your sound drivers.

Google for "sox audio linux" for more info.

netscape (version 4.0 i think) cos it's at uni. I'm pretty new to linux/unix, i know this sounds like a silly question but how do i find the plugin for the browser?
