NIM SPOT query

Dear Admins,

The SPOT defined in NIM is for aix 5.3 TL 7 . Some of the NIM clients are upgraded to TL 10 . Now the SPOT level is older than the mksysb level.
This will cause problem during restoration of any NIM clients.

Now i want to upgrade SPOT level to TL 10 and redefine the resources with the new SPOT.

Please let me know what are the best practises to do the same.

Make sure your LPP_SOURCE is updated, then go through these steps:

smitty nim -->
Perform NIM Administration Tasks -->
Manage Resources -->
Perform Operations on Resources -->
Choose your spot -->
update_all -->
Source of Install Images --> Use "esc-3" to select your updated lpp_source
enter-->
enter

Thanks for the response. I have TL10 updates stored in the server. Can i use the same to update the lppresource..

How to update the lpp_resource with TL10 files.

The steps to update your LPP_SOURCE are almost identical.

smitty nim -->
Perform NIM Administration Tasks -->
Manage Resources -->
Perform Operations on Resources -->
Choose your LPP_SOURCE to which you are going to add filesets -->
update  = add or remove software to or from an lpp_source -->
Add or Remove Software --> add
Media, directory or lpp_source to copy images from --> Provide the full path to your TL10 files.
enter --> enter
