root@saturn # metastat -p
root@saturn # metadb

Please create the metadb for the 2 disks that to be mirrored, like this, with at list 3 replicas after copying the partiton table.
prtvtoc /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s2 | fmthard -s - /dev/rdsk/c0t1d0s2
metadb -afc3 c0t0d0s7 c0t1d0s7 (rootdisk and mirrordisk)
metadb (verify)
I hope this is what you're trying to do.
metainit -f d10 1 1 c0t0d0s0
metainit -f d20 1 1 c0t1d0s0
metainit d0 -m d10
metaroot d0
Yes it works,

prtvtoc /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s2 | fmthard -s - /dev/rdsk/c0t1d0s2
metadb -afc3 c0t0d0s7 c0t1d0s7
coz previously i only need to run metainit to setup the mirror.
is it everytime doing mirror disk, need to run the above command?
"with at list 3 replicas after copying the partiton table" what is replicas ?
Cheers =)
You are not following the proper procedure. There lies the problem ![]()
Anyway, before you do attach, you need to edit /etc/vfstab file to chane raw device to md device naming. Then reboot the system. Once rebooted, then you do metattach d0 d20
Kindly review this link
http://www.brandonhutchinson.com/Mirroring\_disks\_with_DiskSuite.html
Something should definitely be wrong if this is what you've been doing. Kindly check all your systems. If your mirroring is not proper or robust, you will loose data sooner or later.
i use wrong procedure already.. haha... so next time i should run this two first and the continue to do the mirroring =)
# prtvtoc /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s2 | fmthard -s - /dev/rdsk/c0t1d0s2
# metadb -afc3 c0t0d0s7 c0t1d0s7
after i update the vfstab file, and reboot the system, it cannot boot,
any idea? =)
Something is really wrong. You need to be very careful. Its normal for this to happen if there is syntax problem in vfstab or something else. Redo your procedures again. Please find some help who is proficient in SVM. Boot from cdrom to single user, copy back the backup vfstab file and boot. Do the steps once over cleanly again. At least show us what's the error.
me just now go to server room again, it finally come out boot screen, but when type boot, i come out the below error =)
OK> boot

please help..

installboot /usr/platform/'uname -i' /lib/fs/ufs/bootblk /dev/rdsk/c1t0d0s0
umount /mnt
fsck -y /dev/rdsk/c1t0d0s0
init 6
ok>boot cdrom -sw (solaris 10 installation CD)
mount /dev/dsk/cxtxdxs0 /mnt
cd /mnt/etc
cp -p vfstab.orig vfstab
cp -p system.orig system

Just one question, DB replica has approximately 4 - 5Mb x 3 = 15Mb so why you allocate to slice cXtXsXs7 512 Mb????
i try to boot from cdrom.
when i execute the below step, face some problem
# mount /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 /mnt
Mount: The state of /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 is not okay
and it was attempt to be mounted read/write
Mount: Please run fsck and try again
and i follow it to run the fsck, but when the fsck proceed to step 2. it prompt out n times of this even i keep press enter.
phase 2 - check pathnames

REMOVE ?
any idea ? ![]()
---------- Post updated at 10:46 AM ---------- Previous update was at 10:24 AM ----------
is it need run this fsck -y /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 to tell fsck to fix errors without asking using
fsck would cause files/data to be deleted. I suppose you have a good backup before doing so. It should not be the case for you to have hit such a problem. Something is not right from the start
hmn... i think i need to reinstall the OS better. what is your suggestion? =)
coz after i successful mount the c0t0d0s0 to /mnt,
inside the folder is nothing.
kindly advise.
or i need to create a folder etc inside the /mnt ?
???
nothing? what OS was your system using earlier?
cd /mnt
ls -la <--- nothing ????
did you try umount and mount again?
Are you mounting the correct disk device?
