Linux

im a new user to this forum, and i intend to learn about internet security...so this meant that i neede to get hold of a unix based OS and learn some programming starting with C then C++.
ive read the whole forum and stil havent found a place where i could download a later version of linux for a stand-alone, i am not considering buying as im not comfortable giving details over the internet, and i couldnt get much help from software shops, who say linux is crap.....

thankyou in advance

Hi pops,

You can get linux iso images from http://www.linuxiso.org/
Once you've downloaded the images you'll need to burn them to a cd-r.

A good website for newbies is : http://www.linuxnewbie.org/

PS Linux is not crap, the sales people from the shop you went to probably don't know the first thing about Linux.

 cheers, it is a gud site
i think i need to consider getting hold of a cd with a 56k modem
...yeh ok stop laughing..this is the newbie section

thanx for the help
