How to run a command on server

Hi,
Im a total virgin on server admin and I need to check server (shared server) for certain files.
Someone send me a command:

find /home/ \( -name "*.cgi" -o -name "*.php" \) -print0 | xargs -0 egrep -l 'c99shell|r57shell|WebShell|phpshell|shell|c100|base64' >> /root/report

my question is:
where should I put that? how to use it? :frowning: I know maybe it sounds stupid.
please help me out just on the first steps.

thanks a lot

You can fire it off on the command line (shell) or in a file, ie. a shell script which would need e(x)ecutable permissions for your user to do so and being called like ./yourscript.sh.

Your output will be written to /root/report. This file might grow since >> will append the output to already existing output.
If you are new as server admin, you should ask for training which should also be in the interesst of your employee as well as might have a look in several guides to administering unix boxes.
