How to open a file in TextEdit

I have found out how to create a file in Terminal from a script result:

sudo diskutil repairPermissions / > ~/Library/Logs/Permissions.log

I want to now open this file in TextEdit, however when I use the standard open command it opens in the default editor. How do I open the above file in TextEdit?
