1-unresponsive terminals
2-unresponsive applications
3-how to interrupt processe
p.s unix/linux OS
For unresponsive terminals/applications, you might be able to press control-Z
Then type "jobs" or "ps"
to see exactly what you suspended by doing that.
I'm not sure if I'm really answering your question, but it was somewhat vague....
