Can some1 show me how to transfer a file from one machine to another machine?

i tried ftp, scp,sftp were errors.

i tried to transfer a file to another machine. how do u transfer a file to differeent machine but it has the same net work IP

i have a file under reserved directory and want to transfer this file to another machine. i login root command and i just tried ftp, scp or sftp .....

I am still not sure what exactly you've tried so far, but you might want to look into 'man ftp' for the exact usage.

suppose ur machine is temp

logon to temp machine

there give below command

ftp remotemachine_Name

now u will get user id and password prompt on ur screen...

User Name:
Password:

enter the user name and password then you will get below prompt...

ftp>

here u type the required commands..................

if u want to put a file in remote machine then do below steps:

ftp>put file_Name

and press enter :slight_smile:

1) go to where u want to copy the file.(destination)
2) give ftp command.
3) it will prompt ftp:>
4)enter the following command
user <the other machine name /IP>
5) it will ask password.give it
6)give cd command and source path(where is the file)
7) give get <file name>
8)the specified file copied to ur current directory.

the bold words are commands

not connected it
