i dont know what to do. it just is too complicated. I'm using the latest version of Linux which is 7.2 and i just dont know how to configure this modem stuff. if it helps, my modem is connected to com 5
Do you mean Redhat 7.2? And are you just trying to get an outgoing modem connection?
If so, just check into wvdial. It should already be installed.
Read the man pages on wvdial, wvdial.conf, and wvdialconf.
i tried that and it still didn't work
linux red hat just won't find my modem.
any more solutions??
is it an internal pci modem?? if so its possible that its a winmodem and probably just not compatible.
Same thing [is] happen[ed,ing] to me. Except that I have 7, and I haven't gotten to the point you are at, which is getting Redhat to attempt to detect my modem. I am currently poring through documentation, have not gotten much.
In my extremely errenous GUI, Gnome (see previous post): I find that a nice little modem-configuration wizard is available. I haven't found its command-line equivilant; am searching.
If you want what I have found so far(which isn't very much), send me a "private message". I will be here.
