Hi! Any knows if Unix (from IBM, Sun, HP, etc) is picky on hardwares? I mean, installing Unix (not Linux) on a custom build system?

most of the UNIX for x86 vendors publish a HCL (Hardware Compatability List) from which you can establish you should be able to determine if your system will work.
I believe I am correct in saying that SUN Solaris 10 (Open Solaris) is the only Unix O/S which is ported onto the X86 hardware. Both HP-UX and AIX can only be installed on the proprietary hardware.
